Intersection collision injures motorcyclist in Iowa crash

Although driving safely might seem like an innate action while behind the wheel of a vehicle, drivers in Iowa and elsewhere should always be alert and aware of their surroundings. This means taking constant notice of speed limit signs, traffic signals and signs, other vehicles on the roadway and any type of hazard that might be up ahead. Even when a driver is being cautious and believes he or she is driving safely, a simple moment of inattention could be the cause of an accident.

Authorities in Osceola County recently responded to an intersection collision that involved an automobile and a motorcycle. The motorcycle crash occurred at the intersection of County Road L-40 and County Road A-34.

Police officers investigating the accident believe the driver of the automobile stopped at the stop sign at the intersection, and thinking that it was a four-way stop, the 17-year-old driver pulled into the intersection. This resulted in the vehicle pulling into the path of a motorcycle driven by a 25-year-old.

In order to avoid a collision, the motorcyclist attempted to stop; however, he was not able to stop in time. This resulted in the motorcycle sliding on its left side and colliding with the rear of the vehicle that crossed into the path of the motorcyclist. As a result of this incident, the motorcyclist suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. No injures were reported to the driver of the automobile.

The motorcycle accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time. In matters where a negligent action causes an accident, the negligent driver could will have legal liability for the incident. Those harmed in the crash could seek compensation for their damages. A personal injury claim could help a victim recover damages for losses and expenses such as medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
