4-year-old girl injured after semitrailer strikes Jeep in Iowa

Tragedy could happen at anytime on any roadway. A car accident is a sudden event that could significantly alter the lives of those involved as well as their loved ones. A young girl was recently hurt in eastern Iowa in a two-vehicle collision. According to authorities, the four-year-old girl suffered serious injuries when a semitrailer collided with the Jeep she was traveling in. Preliminary reports indicate that the Jeep was attempting to turn right on Highway 61 near Davenport when the semitrailer struck the rear of the Jeep.

The impact of the collision sent the vehicle the girl was riding in into a nearby ditch, colliding with a couple steel posts. The collision sent one of the posts through the Jeep's window and injured the young girl. Emergency crews airlifted the girl to the hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The truck accident is still under investigation and authorities cited the driver of the semitrailer for the crash. In addition to facing traffic and criminal penalties, the driver could endure a civil action. In situations like these, it is possible thata personal injury claim could be filed against the driver for the injuries caused by the crash. This could help the victim recover compensation for the injuries suffered and the losses and damages incurred.
