Motorcyclist suffers head injury in Iowa crash with SUV

To some bikers, owning and riding a motorcycle is a serious hobby, which often includes long motorcycle rides with fellow bikers and motorcycle rallies. Whether it is a single rider or a group of bikers, drivers in Iowa will often encounter motorcycles on the roadways. This is especially true during the summer months. Although it is not a rare event that motorists will need to share the road with motorcyclists, drivers may fail to notice them. This could lead to a motorcycle crash seriously affecting those on the bike.

Following a motorcycle accident in Cedar Rapids, authorities were dispatched to the scene of the accident. It was reported that the incident took place around 6:30 p.m. near the interchange of Edgewood and Highway 30. Authorities indicated that the crash involved a motorcycle and an SUV.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they noted that the motorcyclist suffered a serious head injury. The rider was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. None of the occupants of the SUV were said to have suffered injuries.

Officers are still investigating the crash and details concerning the cause of the accident were not available at this time. Furthermore, police stated that it is too soon to establish whether any charges will be filed in this crash.

When a motorcyclist is struck by another motorist, the rider could suffer serious injuries, such as brain injury, broken bones and serious cuts and bruises. These injuries could require much medical attention and a lengthy recovery. An injured party could recover compensation by filing a personal injury claim. This could help them cover expenses such as medical bills, rehabilitation and damages.

When a motorcycle is involved in a crash, it is likely that the rider will be affected. The small vehicle is not able to standup to the impact caused by a larger vehicle. This could cause them to be thrown from the bike and suffer serious and even fatal injuries even when a helmet is worn. Those involved in a motorcycle crash should seek guidance about their options and determine whether a civil action is in their best interest.
