Two-motorcycle crash injures two Iowa men

Each year, as the weather starts to warms up, residents in Iowa see more and more motorcycles on the roadways. Although this is common during the warmer months, these small vehicles can still go unnoticed by larger vehicles. This is why it is crucial that drivers double-check and even triple-check their blind spots and mirrors before changing lanes or making a turn. If a driver fails to do so or is distracted or speeding, they could collide with a motorcyclist. Even if they are wearing a helmet and protective gear, a motorcycle accident often results in catastrophic injuries.

Authorities recently responded to a crash that involved two motorcyclists. According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. when the two Iowa men were traveling on Illinois Route 92. The accident happened when one motorcyclist slowed his bike to turn into a parking lot. The motorcyclist behind him did not slow down and collided with the back of the other motorcycle.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and assessed both men in the crash. Both were ejected from their bikes. They were transported to the hospital for treatment of their non-life threatening injuries.

When a driver fails to signal a turn, is following too closely to another vehicle or is distracted, a serious accident can ensue. They can also be liable for the resulting injuries and damages in the accident. A personal injury suit could help victims recover compensation to cover medical bills and other damages.

When a motorcycle accident occurs, those riding on the bike are often seriously injured. In some cases, they do not survive their injuries because they are so grave. This is why it is important that both motorcyclists and driver take precautions and drive safely on the roadways. Failing to uphold a certain standard of care on the road could result in the negligent driver causing a crash. Those affected might have a cause of action, so it is important they seek guidance about their options.
