One student and both drivers injured in Iowa bus crash

Iowa parents often send their children to school on a bus. This massive yellow vehicle is utilized during the school week to transport large amounts of children to and from school. Although this vehicle is considered safe, incidents happen. When they do, a bus accident could result in serious injuries affecting numerous occupants.

The Benton County Sheriff's office responded to a recent collision that involved a school bus and an automobile. The crash occurred on a rural road at around 8:30 a.m. Officers reported that only one student was on the bus at the time of the collision.

Emergency crews responded to the crash, and the student and both drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment. It was reported that all three suffered injuries but none were indicated as being serious or critical.

Authorities are still investigating the accident and have yet to determine the cause or how the bus ended up landing nose first in a deep ditch at the accident site. Once the investigation is complete, fault and liability can be determined. Those injured in the crash could file a personal injury claim against the driver at fault. This could help them recover compensation for the injuries they suffered such as medical bills, damages and pain and suffering.

When a school bus accident occurs, families and community members are greatly concerned. Ensuring the safety of students is a major concern. Drivers should always be extra attentive when traveling near the bus because these vehicles make frequent stops, with children constantly boarding and disembarking.
