Pickup truck and semi collide in western Iowa; two dead

Some drivers will often forget that it is a luxury and a privilege to be able to drive. With that in mind, some drivers and passengers will travel in vehicles on a daily basis and forget how dangerous this activity can really be. Even when a driver takes additional precautions and ensures they travel at the correct speeds, a negligent driver on the roadway could collide with the safest of drivers. This could lead to unexpected injuries or even death.

Authorities in Mondamin recently responded to a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of two. The fatal automobile collision took place on Interstate 29 at around 6:50 a.m., and preliminary reports indicated that the driver of the pickup truck might have caused the collision. Investigators stated that the pickup truck went off of the Interstate. This caused the driver to quickly turn back onto the roadway, but overcorrected. Their overcorrection caused the vehicle to cross the center median and strike a semitrailer.

When emergency crews arrived to the scene of the accident, they reported that the 18-year-old driver of the pickup truck and a passenger in the semi-truck died as a result of the collision. The driver of the semi-truck was injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Although authorities have indicated their suspected cause of the accident, the fatal crash is still under investigation. Once cause is determined, those impacted might have a cause of action. Those in the semi-truck that was struck could file claims against the estate of the liable driver. A wrongful death claim would help cover the funeral costs, loss of companionship, damages and pain and suffering. A personal injury claim would help the injured cover medical bills, rehabilitation costs, damages and lost wages.

Most accidents are not expected and can be very life altering. This might cause the injured parties and loved ones of the deceased to endure financial burdens. Filing for compensation might not only help with monetary hardships but could also help with the healing and coping process.
