Negligent driver might have caused two-car crash injuring four

Iowa residents understand that when a driver fails to comply with the rules of the road, they could cause an accident. Drivers who are reckless or negligent frequently cause car accidents. This not only creates dangers for the driver and the potential for being pulled over and fined, but it also puts other drivers and passengers at risk. A negligent driver could cause a collision that injures several and causes serious injuries or even fatalities.

The Grundy County Sheriff's office is investigating an accident that recently occurred on Highway 14. The accident happened at around 1:30 p.m., and preliminary reports indicate that the accident involved two vehicles but might be the result of a negligent driver of a third vehicle.

A car traveling southbound on the roadway had to veer her vehicle onto the southbound shoulder in order to avoid a red truck that was traveling northbound in her lane. Upon reentering the roadway, the 21-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle and entered the northbound lane of traffic. This resulted in her colliding with another vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to the incident and transported both drivers and the two passengers in the second vehicle to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The accident is still under investigation, and it was not reported if the driver of the red truck was located. The ongoing investigation could determine cause and liability.

If the driver of the truck is found negligent, that person could be liable for the injuries suffered and damages sustained by the other people involved. The injured parties could file a personal injury claim in order to recover compensation for medical bills and other damages including pain and suffering.
