Iowa man dies following a motorcycle accident

Residents of Iowa understand that some vehicles pose more risks than others. A motorcycle, although enjoyable to ride during the warm weather months, has the tendency to cause serious injuries or even death when an accident occurs with one of these vehicles. Even though there are some safety precautions riders can take, motorcycles do not include the same safety features as vehicles. In addition, motorcycles are often seen traveling together in a group. This could pose dangers for those within the group and to the vehicles traveling nearby.

The Iowa State Patrol recently responded to a fatal accident that involved two motorcycles. Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred around 1:22 a.m. and resulted in the injury of one motorcyclist and the death of another. Both bikers were traveling northbound on Merino Avenue when one of the bikers lost control of their motorcycle causing them to travel on to a shoulder and coming to halt in a ditch.

The other biker traveling behind the motorcycle that lost control also lost control of their bike and entered the same ditch. When emergency vehicles arrived to the scene, the second motorcyclist was transported to the hospital for the serious injuries he suffered, but he later died at the hospital. The other biker who initially lost control of his bike suffered some injuries but refused to be transported to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation and it is not clear to authorities what caused the incident. Initial reports were unclear if the first motorcycle losing control caused the second one to also lose control as well or whether there was a hazard on the roadway that caused the incident. Once liability is determined, the loved ones of the deceased biker could file a wrongful death suit to recover compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages and damages if the accident was caused by someone's negligence. Depending on the causation, the injured biker may also have a personal injury suit, which might be dependent on finding fault in the roadway. If awarded, it could go towards medical bills, damages and pain and suffering.

A fatal accident can be an emotional event to overcome for the loved ones of the deceased. The accident might result in financial burdens and the claim might help release them from any monetary hardships. This could also help with the coping process.
